Your Consultation and Exam
Dr. Winters will review your medical history and discuss the reasons for your visit. He'll want to know your expectations and goals, as well as your concerns. Understanding your unique needs helps Dr. Winters personalize your visit and customize a treatment plan especially for you.

Dr. Winters will conduct a thorough examination of your smile. He'll examine your soft tissues for oral cancer, look for signs of gum disease, and conduct a tooth-by-tooth scan with a DIAGNOdent laser. This high-tech tool locates cavities and alerts Dr. Winters to areas of demineralization, which are precursors to decay. He'll assess how well your top and bottom teeth fit together to determine if you’re at risk for TMJ disorder or other bite-related problems. Digital X-rays and photos taken with an intraoral camera will provide additional information about teeth and supporting structures.

Your Treatment Plan
Dr. Winters will display your intraoral photos and X-rays on a monitor mounted to the treatment chair. He'll use the images to explain his findings and discuss treatment options. Dr. Winters will answer all of your questions and work with you to determine a plan for a beautiful smile and optimal oral health. Our front office will schedule your comprehensive cleaning with a hygienist before you leave the office.
